Terms of Service

Policy. This site contains various information relating to Community-Engaged Alliance, whose principal place of business is at 801 Shelby St Suite 202, Indianapolis, IN 46203, in the form of text, graphics, news, reports, and other materials (“content”). By accessing, browsing, and/or using this site you acknowledge you have read, understand, and agree to be legally bound to these terms of service. If you do not accept this agreement, do not use this site. We reserve the right, at our discretion, to modify, add, or delete portions of these terms of service at any time by posting updated terms of service on Community-Engaged Alliance website. Any modifications will be effective immediately, your continued use of the service or content will express that you agree with those changes.

Copyright, Trademark, and Intellectual Property. Copyright law protects Community-Engaged Alliance and its original works of authorship, including, but not limited to, written, oral, pictorial, and audiovisual creations. No part of the creative works of authorship may be reproduced or distributed, in any form, including electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording, or otherwise without the written permission of the author. You may print a limited amount of content for personal, non-commercial use only, provided that you include all copyright and other notices contained in the content and do not modify the content. Written consent can be obtained by contacting 

Community-Engaged Alliance reserves the right to protect its presenters, facilitators, agents, members, and volunteers and their original works of authorship. Any creative works of authorship posted or distributed in the context of Community-Engaged Alliance programs are subject to their own copyright; you may not use or distribute their creative works without written permission from the author. Community-Engaged Alliance will obtain permission to post or distribute its presenters’ creative works for the sole purpose of providing a resource for the program participants; this does not grant the use of these creative works, in any form, other than personal reference. Any creative works from other parties should include the following disclaimer:  “Opinions or points of view expressed are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the official position of Community-Engaged Alliance.”

We take claims of copyright infringement seriously. We will respond to notice of alleged copyright infringement that complies with applicable law. If you believe any content on this site infringes on your copyright, you may request removal of that content by submitting written notification to our designated agent, Summer Webb, Senior Director and Chief Operating Officer for Community-Engaged Alliance, PO Box 1472, Indianapolis, IN 46206, Under the Online Copyright Infringement Liability Limitation Act of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, your written notice must include the following:

  • Identification of the copyrighted content (s) you believe to have been infringed
  • Identification of the location so we can locate the content
  • Adequate contact information including your name, email, and phone number
  • Your signature, physical or electronic
  • Statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the copyrighted material is not authorized by the owner or its agent
  • Statement that the written notice is accurate and you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner

Failure to comply with the above requirements may make your notice ineffective. Any notices submitted that are a known misrepresentation will be held liable for damages, including costs and attorney fees).\

Limitation of Liability. In no event, will Community-Engaged Alliance or its directors, officers, employees, agents, or volunteers be liable for any loss or damage, direct or indirect, from your use or inability to use the service or content on this site. You are responsible for evaluating the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any service or content available on this site. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for negligence, consequential, or incidental damages, in such jurisdictions Community-Engaged Alliance’s liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

You represent and warrant that a) any material you post, upload, transmit, or provide through the service does not and will not violate any rules of the terms of service, and b) your use of the service and content complies with these terms of service. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Community-Engaged Alliance and all parties from any claims, liability’s, cots, or expenses, including attorney fees, arising from your breach of the expressed representations and warranties, your use of the service and content, the material you have posted, uploaded, transmitted.

Links to Community-Engaged Alliance. Community-Engaged Alliance encourages and permits links to content on the Community-Engaged Alliance website. However, the linking shall not suggest that Community-Engaged Alliance promotes or endorses any third party’s cause, ideas, website, or products. We reserve the right to withdraw permission for linking.

Links to Third-Party Site. Community-Engaged Alliance may include third-party links on our website and in our content. Community-Engaged Alliance’s use of third-party links is not an endorsement of the content, products, or service provided in the third-party site. Community-Engaged Alliance is not responsible for any information collected, used, or shared as a result of visiting a third party link, nor do we make any warranty or representation, expressed or implied, regarding the content of the third-party site. Community-Engaged Alliance shall have no liability of any nature in relation to third-party links.

Disclaimer of Warranty. Content provided by, or on behalf of, Community-Engaged Alliance is for informational purposes only. You acknowledge and agree that content is provided on an “as is” or “as available” basis. None of Community-Engaged Alliance ’s partners, affiliates, and respective officers, employees, agents, and volunteers guarantees the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of the content. Community-Engaged Alliance does not warrant that services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its server, or any files available for download, are free of computer viruses or other harmful elements. We value the security of your data and take steps to protect it to the extent possible using industry-standard technology and services. You agree that the entire risk to the quality, completeness, and accuracy of our services is assumed solely by you. Community-Engaged Alliance, or any of its representation, does not make any express or implied warranties, endorsements, guarantees, or disclaims regarding the content provided, including the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement of third-party rights.

Use of Service. By participating in service and/or opportunities on the Community-Engaged Alliance website, is subject to the following rules:

  • You may not submit information or content anonymously or under a false name/email address
  • You may not remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary rights notices which may be affixed to or contained within the service/opportunity
  • We encourage the expression of ideas, however lewd, obscene, pornographic, racist, belligerent, commercial, or sexually explicit content will not be accepted
  • Content that is unlawful or harmful to other users will not be accepted
  • You may only submit content in which you have the copyright or permission to distribute
  • You may not knowingly submit, upload, or transmit materials or content that contains a virus or other harmful code
  • You may not use the website to distribute chain letters, mass mailings, or spam
  • You may not use the website to gather email addresses for the purpose of sending mass emails or spam
  • You may request refunds for events/opportunities at least 6 weeks prior to the date of the event/opportunity. You agree that Community-Engaged Alliance will retain a $50 refund processing fee. Refund request must be in writing to
  • You may use social media to promote your project with Community-Engaged Alliance. Please be aware that social media sites are upheld to the terms of service listed herein.

  • You agree to abide by the Community-Engaged Alliance branding and logo usage guide:
    • The Community-Engaged Alliance logo must be used on any and all printed and/or electronic materials that result from an Community-Engaged Alliance sponsored project. You may not alter the logo in any manner. Items on which logo should appear are, but not limited to, flyers, electronic invitations, event handouts, t-shirts, etc.
    • You can download the Community-Engaged Alliance logo and/or the full brand standards that includes colors and fonts. The logo is available in formats other than .jpeg as well as red and transparent colors. Please contact us at for more information.
  • Discounted partner registration rates are reserved for Community-Engaged Alliance partners only, this includes any individual at a partner campus. Should the institution pull partnership after an individual has registered, but prior to an event, Community-Engaged Alliance reserves the right to request the difference in registration rate if the individual still wishes to participate. This also applies to community partners of an Community-Engaged Alliance partner institution.
  • International attendees or presenters are welcome:
    • A list of the 38 countries taking part in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) can be found online.
    • Attendees from Non-VWP Countries (including Canada).

For those wishing to travel to the U.S. to attend Community-Engaged Alliance events, a “non-work” visiting visa is required for guests coming from non-VWP countries. Citizens of non-VWP countries (including Canada) should obtain a B-1 or B-2 temporary stay visa typically awarded when clearing customs at the US border as part of standard access to the U.S. on business (not work) trips to an industry business & networking conference or event.

If ANY paid employment is part of your intended time in the U.S. during which you attend an event sponsored by Community-Engaged Alliance (whether or not this payment is connected to either attending or presenting at an Community-Engaged Alliance event), you must obtain a work visa in advance of entry, separate from the process described here.

  • Attendees from VWP Countries (including Europe & Australia). For anyone traveling from the 38 countries that are part of the VWP, you are able to travel to the U.S. without a visa for stays of 90 days or less if, you meet all of the requirements for this type of travel as explained online. It is recommended that those meeting this description apply for a passport or “visitor visa” at least 90 days in advance of the date you wish to travel.
  • Letters of Invitation. If you need a letter of invitation in order to receive your visa, you may request such letter upon full payment of all fees associated with attending an Community-Engaged Alliance event. Community-Engaged Alliance will not supply an invitation letter to unpaid or unregistered participants. Community-Engaged Alliance reserves the right to refuse to provide invitation letters for attendees.

Please note, Community-Engaged Alliance is unable to provide any further support to the visa application process. Obtaining a visa remains the sole responsibility of the participant. Regular cancellation deadlines and policies apply, regardless of whether or not a participant’s visa was granted.

Counter-Notification Procedure. If you believe that content you submitted, posted, or transmitted was omitted or disabled by mistake, please contact us to make a counter-notification in writing to with the following information:

  • Identification of the copyrighted content (s) you believe to have been infringed
  • Identification of the location so we may sufficiently locate the content
  • Adequate contact information including your name, email, and phone number
  • Your signature, physical or electronic
  • Statement that the written notice is accurate and you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner

Use of Personally Identifiable Information. Community-Engaged Alliance’s use of identifiable information is governed according to its privacy policy.

Miscellaneous, In the event that any portion of the agreement is held to be unenforceable, the unenforceable portion shall be construed in accordance with applicable law as nearly as possible to reflect the original intentions of the parties. The paragraph headings herein are provided for reference only and shall have no effect on the construction or interpretation of the terms of service. Failure to enforce strict performance of any provision will not constitute a waiver of Community-Engaged Alliance ’s right to subsequently enforce such provisions.
