Terms of Service
Policy. This site contains various information relating to Community-Engaged Alliance, whose principal place of business is at 777 Indiana Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46202, in the form of text, graphics, news, reports, and other materials (“content”). By accessing, browsing, and/or using this site, you acknowledge you have read, understand, and agree to be legally bound to these Terms of Service. If you do not accept this agreement, do not use this site. We reserve the right, at our discretion, to modify, add, or delete portions of these terms of service at any time by posting updated terms of service on the Community-Engaged Alliance website. Any modifications will be effective immediately, and your continued use of the service or content will express that you agree with those changes.
Copyright, Trademark, and Intellectual Property. Copyright law protects Community-Engaged Alliance and its original works of authorship, including, but not limited to written, oral, pictorial, and audiovisual creations. No part of the creative works of authorship may be reproduced or distributed in any form, including electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording, or otherwise, without the author's written permission. You may print a limited amount of content for personal, non-commercial use only, provided that you include all copyright and other notices contained in the content and do not modify the content. Written consent can be obtained by emailing Community-Engaged Alliance at contactus@engagedalliance.org.
Community-Engaged Alliance reserves the right to protect its presenters, facilitators, agents, members, and volunteers and their original works of authorship. Any creative works of authorship posted or distributed in the context of Community-Engaged Alliance programs are subject to their own copyright. You may not use or distribute their creative works without written permission from the author. Community-Engaged Alliance will obtain permission to post or distribute its presenters’ creative works for the sole purpose of providing a resource for the program participants. This does not grant the use of these creative works, in any form, other than personal reference. Any creative works from other parties should include the following disclaimer: “Opinions or points of view expressed are those of the author(s) and may reflect the official position of Community-Engaged Alliance.”
We take claims of copyright infringement seriously. We will respond to notice of alleged copyright infringement that complies with applicable law. If you believe any content on this site infringes on your copyright, you may request removal of that content by submitting written notification to our designated agent, Elijah Howe, Executive Director for Community-Engaged Alliance, PO Box 1472, Indianapolis, IN 46206. Under the Online Copyright Infringement Liability Limitation Act of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, your written notice must include the following:
- Identification of the copyrighted content (s) you believe to have been infringed
- Identification of the location so we can locate the content
- Adequate contact information including your name, email, and phone number
- Your signature, physical or electronic
- Statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the copyrighted material is not authorized by the owner or its agent
- Statement that the written notice is accurate, and you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner
Failure to comply with the above requirements may make your notice ineffective. Any notices submitted that are a known misrepresentation will be held liable for damages, including costs and attorney fees).
Limitation of Liability. In no event will Community-Engaged Alliance or its directors, officers, employees, agents, or volunteers be liable for any loss or damage, direct or indirect, from your use or inability to use the service or content on this site. You are responsible for evaluating the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any service or content available on this site. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for negligence, consequential, or incidental damages. Community-Engaged Alliance’s liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law in such jurisdictions.
You represent and warrant that a) any material you post, upload, transmit, or provide through the service does not and will not violate any rules of the Terms of Service, and b) your use of the service and content complies with these Terms of Service. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Community-Engaged Alliance and all parties from any claims, liability, cost, or expenses, including attorney fees, arising from your breach of the expressed representations and warranties, your use of the service and content, the material you have posted, uploaded, transmitted.
Links to Community-Engaged Alliance. Community-Engaged Alliance encourages and permits links to content on the Community-Engaged Alliance website. However, the linking shall not suggest that Community-Engaged Alliance promotes or endorses any third party’s cause, ideas, website, or products. We reserve the right to withdraw permission for linking.
Links to Third-Party Site. Community-Engaged Alliance may include third-party links on our website and in our content. Community-Engaged Alliance’s use of third-party links is not an endorsement of the content, products, or service provided in the third-party site. Community-Engaged Alliance is not responsible for any information collected, used, or shared as a result of visiting a third-party link, nor do we make any warranty or representation, expressed or implied, regarding the content of the third-party site. Community-Engaged Alliance shall have no liability of any nature in relation to third-party links.
Disclaimer of Warranty. Content provided by, or on behalf of, Community-Engaged Alliance is for informational purposes only. You acknowledge and agree that content is provided on an “as is” or “as available” basis. None of Community-Engaged Alliance’s partners, affiliates, and respective officers, employees, agents, and volunteers guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of the content. Community-Engaged Alliance does not warrant that services will be uninterrupted and error-free or that its server or any files available for download are free of computer viruses or other harmful elements. We value the security of your data and take steps to protect it to the extent possible using industry-standard technology and services. You agree that the entire risk to the quality, completeness, and accuracy of our services is assumed solely by you. Community-Engaged Alliance, or any of its representation, does not make any express or implied warranties, endorsements, guarantees, or disclaims regarding the content provided, including the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement of third-party rights.
Use of Service. Participating in service and/or opportunities on the Community-Engaged Alliance website is subject to the following rules:
- You may not submit information or content anonymously or under a false name/email address
- You may not remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary rights notices which may be affixed to or contained within the service and/or opportunity
- We encourage the expression of ideas, however lewd, obscene, pornographic, racist, belligerent, commercial, or sexually explicit content will not be accepted
- Content that is unlawful or harmful to other users will not be accepted
- You may only submit content in which you have the copyright or permission to distribute
- You may not knowingly submit, upload, or transmit materials or content that contains a virus or other harmful code
- You may not use the website to distribute chain letters, mass mailings, or spam
- You may not use the website to gather email addresses for the purpose of sending mass emails or spam
- Social Media Use. You may use social media to promote your project with Community-Engaged Alliance. Please be aware that social media sites are upheld to the terms of service listed herein.

- Branding and Logo Use. You agree to abide by the Community-Engaged Alliance branding and logo usage guide:
- The Community-Engaged Alliance logo must be used on any and all printed and/or electronic materials (e.g., flyers, electronic invitations, event handouts, t-shirts, event registrations) that result from a Community-Engaged Alliance sponsored project.
- The logo may not be altered in any manner.
- You can download the Community-Engaged Alliance logo here. The logo is available in formats other than .jpeg, including a transparent version. To request another format, contact Community-Engaged Alliance at contactus@engagedalliance.org.
- The standard logo colors are:
- New Blue: #00526e | R: 0, G: 82, B:110
- Olive Green: #56622b | R: 86, G: 98, B: 43

- Event, Opportunity, & Program Refunds. Registrants may request refunds for events, programs, and/or opportunities up to 6 weeks prior to the date of the event, program, and/or opportunity. You agree that Community-Engaged Alliance will retain a $50 refund processing fee. Refund requests must be in writing to contactus@engagedalliance.org.The following events, programs, and/or opportunities are excluded from the above refund policy:
- Developing Publicly Engaged Scholars Series (all connected events, programs, and/or opportunities)
- Pen to Paper Writing Retreat Publicly Engaged (all connected events, programs, and/or opportunities)
Those registered for the above events, programs, and/or opportunities are unable to request a refund. However, a registrant may request that their registration fee be applied to another individual up to 1 week prior to the date of the event, program, and/or opportunity. This request must be in writing to contactus@engagedalliance.org.
- Discounted Partner Registration Fees. Discounted partner registration rates are reserved for Community-Engaged Alliance partners only. This includes any individual at a partner institution. This benefit is extended to representatives of community organizations and community members affiliated with a Community-Engaged Alliance partner institution. Should the institution end its partnership after an individual has registered but prior to an event, program, and/or opportunity, and the individual still wishes to participate in the event, program, and/or opportunity, Community-Engaged Alliance reserves the right to request the difference in registration rate. This also applies to community partners of a Community-Engaged Alliance partner institution.
- International attendees or presenters are welcome.
- A list of the 38 countries taking part in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) can be found here.
- Attendees from Non-VWP Countries (including Canada).
International Attendees and/or Presenters. International attendees or presenters are welcome. For those wishing to travel to the U.S. to attend Indiana Campus Compact events, a “non-work” visiting visa is required for guests coming from non-VWP countries. Citizens of non-VWP countries (including Canada) should obtain a B-1 or B-2 temporary stay visa typically awarded when clearing customs at the US border as part of standard access to the U.S. on business (not work) trips to an industry business & networking conference or event.

- Attendees from Non-VWP Countries (including Canada).
If any paid employment is part of your intended time in the U.S. during which you attend an event sponsored by Community-Engaged Alliance (whether or not this payment is connected to either attending or presenting at a Community-Engaged Alliance event), you must obtain a work visa in advance of entry, separate from the process described here.
- Attendees from VWP Countries (including Europe & Australia). For anyone traveling from the 38 countries that are part of the VWP, you are able to travel to the U.S. without a visa for stays of 90 days or less if, you meet all of the requirements for this type of travel as explained here. It is recommended that those meeting this description apply for a passport or “visitor visa” at least 90 days in advance of the date you wish to travel.
- Letters of Invitation.If you need a letter of invitation in order to receive your visa, you may request such letter upon full payment of all fees associated with attending a Community-Engaged Alliance event. Community-Engaged Alliance will not supply an invitation letter to unpaid or unregistered participants. Community-Engaged Alliance reserves the right to refuse to provide invitation letters for attendees.Community-Engaged Alliance is unable to provide any further support to the visa application process. Obtaining a visa remains the sole responsibility of the participant. Regular cancellation deadlines and policies apply, regardless of whether or not a participant’s visa was granted.
Counter-Notification Procedure. If you believe that content you submitted, posted, or transmitted was omitted or disabled by mistake, contact us to make counter-notification via email at contactus@engagedalliance.org with the following information:
- Identification of the copyrighted content (s) you believe to have been infringed
- Identification of the location so we may sufficiently locate the content
- Adequate contact information including your name, email, and phone number
- Your signature, physical or electronic
- Statement that the written notice is accurate and you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner
Use of Personally Identifiable Information. Community-Engaged Alliance’s use of identifiable information is governed according to its privacy policy.
Miscellaneous. In the event that any portion of the agreement is held to be unenforceable, the unenforceable portion shall be construed in accordance with applicable law as nearly as possible to reflect the original intentions of the parties. The paragraph headings herein are provided for reference only and shall have no effect on the construction or interpretation of the terms of service. Failure to enforce strict performance of any provision will not constitute a waiver of Community-Engaged Alliance’s right to subsequently enforce such provisions.
Privacy Policy
Purpose. To describe the information collection, usage, and sharing of Community-Engaged Alliance (“we,” “our,” “us”) through our digital properties (“properties”), including mobile applications that link to this policy and our website.
Policy. Your privacy is critical to us. This policy will inform you how Community-Engaged Alliance collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use www.communityengagedalliance.org or any mobile application that links to our website or this policy. This policy applies to any information collected via our website or via mobile applications.
Information Collection. When you visit our properties, we may collect information such as the following:
- Information you voluntarily provide to us, such as your name, email, address, phone number, and other contact information.
- When you use our properties to make a purchase, we may collect additional contact information, payment information, payment history, and profile and preference information. Our third-party payment links are PCI-compliant and are subject to their own privacy policies.
- When using our properties, we may also collect information such as, but not limited to, your browser type, browser history, device type, and time and date of visit.
We use cookies to enhance visitor experience. Cookies are data stored on a site visitor’s hard drive to help us improve your access to our site and identify repeat visitors. Cookies are in no way linked to personally identifiable information on our site. You may choose to disable cookies on your computer or have it warn you each time cookies are used through your web browser. Turning cookies off will limit the functionality of the website.
Community-Engaged Alliance uses third-party analytic tools to track visitor traffic patterns. We may use this information to administer our website and analyze overall web traffic trends. Analytic tools collect information in a non-identifiable manner so it cannot be reasonably used to identify a particular individual user. Analytic tools collected information your device sends such as websites visited and other information that assists us in improving your experience.
We may sometimes work with third-party online advertisers who may collect and use the information your device sends about your web browsing history to produce relevant ads for you. This type of advertising is known as interest-based advertising. We may also work with ad networks and other companies to advertise on our behalf.
Information Sharing. We will not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer your information to outside parties without your permission. The term “outside parties” does not include webhosting partners and other parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting business, and serving you. Your information may be released to such partners with an agreement of confidentiality.
Security. Community-Engaged Alliance uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to protect against the loss, misuse, and unauthorized alteration of the information it collects and maintains, both online and offline. All information is stored in a secure database. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although Community-Engaged Alliance does our best to protect your Personally Identifiable Information (PII), the security of your personal or sensitive information transmitted to us is not guaranteed. Any transmission of PII or sensitive information is at your own risk. Community-Engaged Alliance will not be responsible for disclosure of information due to errors in transmission or circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures Community-Engaged Alliance put in place for your protection.
Information Usage. We use the information collected for purposes including, but not limited to:
- Fulfill orders and purchases or respond to inquiries by you
- Improve and customize the content of our properties
- Compliance with the law and maintaining the security of our properties
- For our research, recordkeeping, and reporting needs
- Organizational benchmarking data
- Notifying visitors about organizational opportunities and/or updates, including marketing communications (may include third-party marketing)
Access and Control of Information. You may choose not to provide personal information; however, we only ask for as much personal information as needed to complete the interaction you are requesting. As such, if you choose not to provide personal information, it is possible that you may not be able to participate in the interaction.
You may opt out of future contact from us at any time; you can do so by contacting us using the contact form found on our website or using the unsubscribe button located at the bottom of our newsletter email. Please note, due to production schedules, you may still receive emails already in production.
Unsubscribing from marketing communications does not include non-marketing communications. You may still receive information related to your institution’s partnership, partnership renewal, liaison appointments, and other items that are a condition of the partnership with Community-Engaged Alliance.
Third-Party Links. We may include third-party links on our website and in our newsletters. These links are independent of Community-Engaged Alliance and may have their own privacy policies. Community-Engaged Alliance is not responsible for any information collected, used, or shared as a result of visiting a third-party link.
Policy Changes. Changes to our privacy policy will be posted on our website and visitors are responsible for periodically checking for new updates. Policy changes will apply to only information collected after the effective change date. By using our website, you agree to the terms of this policy; continued use of the site after any changes are made to the policy is deemed acceptance of the changes. This policy was last updated on May 8, 2023.
Grant Funding Usage
Allowable Grant Costs
Grant funds may only be used on direct expenses associated with the development and implementation of the project. All expenses must 1) be directly linked to the project and 2) be traceable to the project. Allowable expenses include:
- Academic and Research-related Supplies. Allowable items include, but are not limited to books, publications, software, and other resources to support the project and project activities.
- Allowable items include, but are not limited to:
- Rental space fees
- Food and beverage expenses
- Fees for equipment use (e.g., technology, tables, chairs)
- Marketing and Public Awareness. All marketing and public awareness charges must be non-revenue generating. Community-Engaged Alliance must be acknowledged as a funder/sponsor of the project on all materials (see Sponsor Recognition Policy). Allowable items include, but not limited to:
- Printing for flyers, publications, and other grant specific promotions.
- Advertisements such as social media boost, local newspaper ads, and other advertisements.
- Apparel and promotional items for project or event participants.
- Project Supplies & Equipment. Allowable items include, but not limited to:
- Printing and copying
- Limited-use and or disposable project supplies necessary for successful implementation
- Sustainable supplies to ensure participant safety, continued community-campus engagement, or continuation of the project
- Equipment with no more than a one-year useful life and/or under $300 without prior approval from CEA
- Stipends. Stipends must be used as compensation for time invested, work/research done, and/or scholarship produced (e.g., manuscripts, presentations, creative works, educational tools). Stipends can be used for:
- Community partner staff or individual community member
- Employees of any rank or employment status at CEA partner institutions
- Students of any type at CEA partner institutions—may be disbursed as stipend, wage, or institutional scholarship
- Travel. All travel must 1) be specifically related to the project and/or dissemination of scholarly work related to the project and 2) not include any activity that produces revenue for Community-Engaged Alliance (e.g., CEA program/event registrations, CEA customized assistance fee). Common travel items include:
- Registration
- Accommodations
- Mileage, vehicle rental, and/or fuel reimbursement
- Per Diem
Non-allowable Grant Costs
Grant funds may not be requested for indirect expenses. Non-allowable expenses include:
- Direct Marketing Platforms. For example, iContact, Mail Chimp, Constant Contact
- Equipment. Durable equipment with a useful life of more than one-year and/or costs over $300, unless otherwise approved by Community-Engaged Alliance in writing, is prohibited. Examples include:
- Office equipment (e.g., large printers, furniture)
- Computers and tablets
- Entertainment. Purchase of items such show tickets and/or entrance fees, unless otherwise approved by Community-Engaged Alliance in writing
- Fundraising. Activities where students are directly handling donor funds is strictly prohibited. Directly or indirectly related to the project that is intended to gain donations and/or donors
- Memberships and Subscriptions. Payment for association memberships and/or subscriptions unless included as part of another allowable expense (e.g., conference registration payment) or otherwise approved by Community-Engaged Alliance in writing.
- Incentives. Participants cannot be incentivized to take part in activities, unless otherwise approved by Community-Engaged Alliance in writing and/or it is part of an IRB-approved research protocol. This includes items such as:
- Gift cards
- Fuel cards
- Cash incentives
- Paid Advertisements. Only paid advertisement can be directly linked to a specific project are allowable up to 50% of the total sponsor provided funds, unless otherwise approved by Community-Engaged Alliance in writing.
- Partisan-Based Activities. Sponsor-provided dollars can only be utilized for non-partisan activities.
- Travel. Such expenses that generate revenue for Community-Engaged Alliance, for example registration fees paid to Community-Engaged Alliance from sponsor-provided funds, are not allowed. However, utilization of institutional match funds to pay registration fees to Community-Engaged Alliance is an allowable expense.

Institutional Match Requirements
All Community-Engaged Alliance funding opportunities (unless otherwise noted in the RFP) require an institutional match from the institution or organization receiving the funds. This ensures there is institutional/organizational commitment and support toward the development and implantation of the project. Appropriate documentation of expenditures related to the institutional match must be kept on file and accessible to Community-Engaged Alliance if requested.
- All institutional match dollars must be:
- From within the institution or organization and not an outside source
- Cash, in-kind, and indirect costs can be utilized for the required institutional match
- Expenses charged to institutional match dollars must be directly related to the project
- Institutional match dollars can be utilized on any project expense, including certain unallowable expenses listed above. Below is a list of some examples, though this is not an exhaustive list:
- Project supplies
- Hospitality
- Capital Equipment
- Stipends
- Participant Incentives and Entertainment
- Community-Engaged Alliance program and/or registration fees or customized assistance fees
- Partisan-Based Activities are not allowed as an institutional match expense.
Institutional Routing, Proposal Submission, and Funds Distribution
Institutional Routing
Applicants are responsible for ensuring their proposal has been routed through, and approved by, their granting offices (e.g., sponsored program, contracts & grants, or other similar offices) in accordance with their university's policies for obtaining external funding prior to submission to Community-Engaged Alliance. Any application not approved, or properly routed may not be funded.
Proposal Submission
All proposals are to be submitted via the Community-Engaged Alliance submission system. See each individual RFP for details on what information is to be directly entered into the online form and what information is to be uploaded as an Adobe PDF (.pdf).
Funds Disbursement
Grant funds are disbursed 30 days following receipt of a fully executed Funding Agreement unless otherwise noted in a specific funding opportunity Request for Proposal. Disbursement will take place via one of the following mechanisms:
- ACH Transfer: Preferred disbursement is via secure electronic ACH funds transfer to the institution or organization. Institutions who select this option will designate a fiscal officer to receive a secure link in which the appropriate banking information will be entered along with an institutionally identified payment tracking number (e.g., project number, account number) to ensure the funds are properly routed once they are received. Once this information is proved, funds should be transferred in 3 to 5 business days.
- Physical Check: An alternative is via a mailed check to the institution or organization. Institutions that select this option will be mailed a physical check. To ensure that payments are not misrouted, Community-Engaged Alliance will request the name and direct campus mailing address of a fiscal officer, along with an institutionally identified payment tracking number (e.g., project number, account number) to ensure the funds are properly routed once they are received. We will also require email confirmation once payment has been received. Funds can be expected approximately 1 week after they have been mailed.
Additional Terms & Conditions
- Data. Any data and/or results derived from the project shall be the joint property of grantee and Community-Engaged Alliance. Neither party will be required to report or account to the other for its use of data and/or results and each shall be free to use data and/or results for any lawful purpose. The author of the works produced will be credited appropriately.
- Deadlines & Reporting Dates. All submissions will adhere to the deadlines set forth in each Request for Proposal. Failure to adhere to the deadlines and reporting dates will result in loss of funding and cause to repay all awarded funds.
- Grantor Recognition. Any materials (print and/or electronic), marketing and public awareness, and communications (e.g., press release, social media posts, news stories) produced with grant funds must acknowledge Community-Engaged Alliance as a funder of the project and include the Community-Engaged Alliance logo (where possible).
- The Community-Engaged Alliance Style Guide provides parameters for the use of logos, press releases, and social media tags. Failure to include Community-Engaged Alliance on all/any of the referenced outlets will result in a loss of funding.
- Partnership. Institutions/organizations must remain an active partner of Community-Engaged Alliance throughout the duration of the funded project. Any institution/organization who leaves the partnership during their funded project terms will forfeit all remaining grant dollars. The institution/organization will be required to return all remaining grant dollars within 30 days of the partnership termination.
- Photographs. Grantees will be required to submit high-quality action photographs with project reports. In order to ensure high-quality photographs, Community-Engaged Alliance recommends coordinating with your institution or organization’s media relations office. These offices can help to ensure quality subject matter and digital usage of images. Any images submitted to Community-Engaged Alliance will be used to promote your specific project as well as the overall work of the organization. Examples of places these images may be shared are media posts, press releases, funding reports, and organizational reports and presentations.
- It is your responsibility to ensure that the images can be used for public dissemination.
- Please refrain from photographing and/or submitting the face of minors or vulnerable individuals without their express written consent or that of a guardian.
- Project & Budget Amendments. Changes to the project scope and service, budget, or duration must be approved, in writing, by the Community-Engaged Alliance prior to the implementation of the requested change. Requests must be made, via email to grants@engagedalliance.org, at least 30 days prior to the end of the project term.
- Budget Adjustment Requests must include a Budget Adjustment Request Letter, on institutional letterhead, providing a brief budget narrative (no more than 300 words) outlining the changes and rationale for the request. This letter must be accompanied by an updated Community-Engaged Alliance Project Fiscal Form.
- Project Extension Requests must include a Project Extension Request Letter, on institutional letterhead, providing a brief project update (approximately 300 words) and rationale for the project extension request.
- Project Scope and Service Requests (e.g., adjusting the deliverables of the funded project) must include a Project Scope Request Letter, on institutional letterhead, providing a brief project update (approximately 300 words), changes to the project scope being requested (no more than 300 words), and rationale for the changes.
- Terms of Service Compliance. In addition to these funding specific terms and conditions, grantees must also agree to Community-Engaged Alliance’s Terms of Service. Failure to do so will result in loss of funding and returning all awarded funds.
- Use of Works Produced, Created, and Submitted. Community-Engaged Alliance reserves the right to use, in part or as a whole, your project’s application, grant report, and works produced as an example of successfully funded projects. Works may be posted on the CEA website, in other print/electronic materials, and CEA resource repository. The author(s) of the works will be credited appropriately.

Programs, Events, and/or Opportunities

This benefit is extended to representatives of community organizations and community members affiliated with a Community-Engaged Alliance partner institution. Should the institution pull partnership after an individual has registered, but prior to an event, program, and/or opportunity, and the individual still wishes to participate in the event, program and/or opportunity, Community-Engaged Alliance reserves the right to request the difference in registration rate. This also applies to community partners of a Community-Engaged Alliance partner institution.
Intellectual Property.Copyright law protects Community-Engaged Alliance and its original works of authorship, including, but not limited to, written, oral, pictorial, and audiovisual creations. No part of the creative works of authorship may be reproduced or distributed, in any form, including electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording, or otherwise without the written permission of the author. You may print a limited amount of content for personal, non-commercial use only, provided that you include all copyright and other notices contained in the content and do not modify the content. Written consent can be obtained by emailing Community-Engaged Alliance at contactus@engagedalliance.org.
Community-Engaged Alliance reserves the right to protect its presenters, facilitators, agents, members, and volunteers and their original works of authorship. Any creative works of authorship posted or distributed in the context of Community-Engaged Alliance programs are subject to their own copyright. You may not use or distribute their creative works without written permission from the author. Community-Engaged Alliance will obtain permission to post or distribute its presenters’ creative works for the sole purpose of providing a resource for the program participants. This does not grant the use of these creative works, in any form, other than personal reference. Any creative works from other parties should include the following disclaimer: “Opinions or points of view expressed are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the official position of Community-Engaged Alliance.”

International Attendees and/or Presenters. International attendees or presenters are welcome. For those wishing to travel to the U.S. to attend Indiana Campus Compact events, a “non-work” visiting visa is required for guests coming from non-VWP countries. Citizens of non-VWP countries (including Canada) should obtain a B-1 or B-2 temporary stay visa typically awarded when clearing customs at the US border as part of standard access to the U.S. on business (not work) trips to an industry business & networking conference or event.

- Attendees from Non-VWP Countries (including Canada).
If any paid employment is part of your intended time in the U.S. during which you attend an event sponsored by Community-Engaged Alliance (whether or not this payment is connected to either attending or presenting at a Community-Engaged Alliance event), you must obtain a work visa in advance of entry, separate from the process described here.
- Attendees from VWP Countries (including Europe & Australia). For anyone traveling from the 38 countries that are part of the VWP, you are able to travel to the U.S. without a visa for stays of 90 days or less if, you meet all of the requirements for this type of travel as explained here. It is recommended that those meeting this description apply for a passport or “visitor visa” at least 90 days in advance of the date you wish to travel.
- Letters of Invitation. If you need a letter of invitation in order to receive your visa, you may request such letter upon full payment of all fees associated with attending a Community-Engaged Alliance event. Community-Engaged Alliance will not supply an invitation letter to unpaid or unregistered participants. Community-Engaged Alliance reserves the right to refuse to provide invitation letters for attendees.
Community-Engaged Alliance is unable to provide any further support to the visa application process. Obtaining a visa remains the sole responsibility of the participant. Regular cancellation deadlines and policies apply, regardless of whether or not a participant’s visa was granted.
Refunds. Registrants may request refunds for events, programs, and/or opportunities up to 6 weeks prior to the date of the event, program, and/or opportunity. You agree that Community-Engaged Alliance will retain a $50 refund processing fee. Refund request must be in writing to contactus@engagedalliance.org.
The following events, programs, and/or opportunities are excluded from the above refund policy. Community-Engaged Alliance reserves the right to update this list at any time.
- Developing Publicly Engaged Scholars Series (all connected events, programs, and/or opportunities)
- Pen to Paper Writing Retreat Publicly Engaged (all connected events, programs, and/or opportunities)
Those registered for the above events, programs, and/or opportunities are unable to request a refund. However, a registrant may request that their registration fee be applied to another individual up to 1 week prior to the date of the event, program, and/or opportunity. This request must be in writing to contactus@engagedalliance.org.
