This recognition was established in 2020 as a means of recognizing faculty, staff, and students who advance community engagement across the field and within the community. Our goal is to recognize individuals who may be early career or new to community engagement as they work to advance the field of and/or inspire to shift the culture of community engagement. This recognition is non-competitive and individuals are encouraged to apply and/or nominate someone under one of the three available categories:
Faculty. Designed to highlight and recognize the emerging community-engaged scholars work who may be new to community engagement or early-career faculty. Faculty should demonstrate leadership and action in advancing community engagement across the field and working toward shifting the culture for community engagement through the institution/organization. These actions have, or will, lay the groundwork for long-term, reciprocal, and impactful partnerships with community organizations.
Staff. Designed to highlight and recognize staff who instill community engagement into their work through supporting faculty, staff, and students and creating long-term, reciprocal, and impactful partnerships with community organizations. These partnerships inspire to shift the culture of community engagement throughout the institution/organization and enable students to build a lifetime of leadership and knowledge to enact positive social change in their communities.
Students. Designed to highlight and recognize students who demonstrate action, leadership, and passion in advancing community engagement to create positive social change. These students inspire to create positive social change in their communities, not only while in school, but beyond graduation as they become civic leaders.
