The Annual Retreat, held each September, kicks off the academic year for Community-Engaged Alliance’s partner institutions! This free, day-long event is an inclusive professional development opportunity where presenters showcase their community engagement work and take a deep dive into a relevant topic from the field.

2022 Keynote Session

Speaker: De'Amon Harges

De’Amon Harges – faculty member of the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) Institute, Community Organizer, Creator of the Learning Tree, chairperson of the Grassroots Grantmakers Association Board, and featured in the new documentary “The Antidote: On Kindness in America” – is a frequent speaker on ABCD in secular and religious groups around the world, and is a layperson at Broadway UMC, Indianapolis, IN.

The ABCD Institute is at the center of a large and growing movement that considers local assets as the primary building blocks of sustainable community development.
