About CEA
As the Community-Engaged Alliance, we partner with Indiana higher education institutions to strengthen the relationship with their local communities. We are the only organization in Indiana that works with all institutional levels (public, both large and small, independent, and two-year) as well as community partners. By supporting our partners through programs, training, grants, consulting, and professional development, we foster a higher education and community collaboration that propels students towards graduation ready to make a difference in the world.
Mission
Community-Engaged Alliance enables students to create positive social change by advancing the field of community engagement in higher education through support, education, and collaboration with partners.
Vision
As leaders in the field of community engagement, our vision is one where students are empowered to make the world a better place.
History
In 1993, a group of six university and college presidents in Indiana came together to create Indiana Campus Compact. Over the course of 29 years, we evolved along with the field of community engagement, offering programs and support for partners to better answer the call for positive social change within communities.
Since our beginnings, we have been committed to providing the highest quality support to our partners in the state of Indiana. Therefore, in 2022, Indiana Campus Compact became the Community-Engaged Alliance. This change has allowed us to maximize local funding and provide the most grant support possible to our partners in the state of Indiana. Stepping away from our former Campus Compact affiliation also ensures that we can maintain our focus on local social impact, civic and economic development, and Indiana college graduates. CEA will continue to move the field forward as we promote service-learning and community engagement and increase student learning and success for years to come.
